that's awesome.

O wow. Impressive.
Think about how long it would've taken to come up with the idea...
And to put it into play as well.

Yellow stands out a lot more than say blue or green. The contrast is higher against such dark things.

It is impressive but it seems to me that a country like Russia could use those funds and effort that was put into that art in another area with more need.

Other than that it was cool

the artist(s) used yellow because it is of a higher brightness than the background. because of this difference in brightness the yellow created a discontinuity, pulling the eye in and around the entire piece until the visual illusion is created.

@Foreign language Lessons
Yes, if it was in Russia that's true, but as it's in Cardiff, Wales you're argument doesn't really work.

It's done using a projector pointed from the angle you want it to be seen from and then painting over where the light lands.

Heh, we did a similar thing with spray on chalk at my uni. Pinched a programmable laser projector (the kind you see at raves, etc) and just waited until it was a new moon. We got the idea from Myst III Exile - so it's nothing new, just MUCH easier these days, what with the lasers and all.

I love it when people that talk trash are "anonymous".

"Nice photoshop work ;)"

It's easy to claim Photoshop whenever you find something that impress you so much instead of just admitting the facts.

anyway,
Nice and SMART idea.
